I am a licensed cosmetologist and I highly recommend you go to a salon. There is no nappy hair just tighter wave patterns, it's all beautiful!! Affirm is a top of the line product which isn't available to the public and if someone is selling it, I wouldn't recommend you trying it. With relaxers, application is key. I can't stress this enough. If you apply it half-a#$%, you are screwed for 6 weeks or more. You should try a basic wrap which all the teenage girls are sporting, low maintenance and if you get your relaxer and a fresh flat iron now, you will be tight for at least two to three weeks before you need to shampoo and condition or hit the salon. I know money isn't plentiful for most teens but your hair is not where you want to cut financial corners trust me, I had many personal hair disasters which is why I became a cosmetologist.

Don't perm your hair unless it's absolutely neccesary like you can't get a comb through it. Also If your going to put any chemicals in your hair make sure they're mild it will reduce the damage.

The best perm to use is Affirm, Only cosmotologists were able to buy it to but now anyone can buy it, It works great, once u use it u will never go back to any other brand...The best way to wear your hair from my point of view being a working mother and going to school, would have to be a roller or rod set or braids...Good luck.

You WILL NOT regret perming your hair. Do what's best for you and don't let anyone change your opinion. You can try getting it permed at a salon or they can use a straightening comb. Both work well but the perm will last longer. Good Luck!

First of all baby girl let me say thank god u have what u consider nappy hair.I am a cosmetologist(retired) You first need to go a professional and they will help you find out what product is best for your hair type.What's good for someone else is not always good for someone else.Affirm is a good product there is also a product called Ashea hair care products it contains shea butter. I have found in my 30+yrs of experience u need to work with each client and see what works for them.Hair care is not one product but a number of products to achieve the best results for the one individual.There are a lot of good products on the market today for people of color.It's not only the perm your conditioner,shampoo,cut and overall maintenance is important.I agree with my sister who says try the wrap and it doesn't have to be your plain Jane wrap so seek the consultation of an professional.Good Luck and better hair days.
