Hey chall.

I got very curly hair for a white guy, and I love it, but I hate using conditioner and love to let it get nappy, curly, and frizzy.

Black women & natural hair :)?

I know a lot of black women think getting a perm makes their hair more manageable...but is it really worth putting harmful chemicals (that seep through your pores) to "maintain" on a day to day basis? I don't think so.

I think it's time we learn our own hair and make it work for us. God didn't make any mistakes (trust me). Our hair doesn't need to be fixed.

Let's be honest, most of us black women were never really taught how to take care of our own natural hair. (Slave Mentality).

With the proper knowledge, our own natural hair can look very regal and beautiful. Yes we are unique and beautiful.

I've been natural for about four years; and the growth is amazing. No breakage; just a full new head of hair.

Some people think that nappy hair is gross, unmanagable and dirty. SO NOT TRUE. Most of us have very tightly coiled hair which is very fragile and breaks when you put too much stress on it.

You notice after years and years of perms; the hair is thin and broken...

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

Keep it real!,..lets all get weaves!!!,.Their unbeweavable!..Give me a break!..Go Natural!!..B yourself!

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

Black women don't have blonde hair...

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

I am a black woman with beautiful long hair. It is almost to my butt. I have never had a perm it does way more damage that good. It eats at the roots and eventually it stops working.

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

Go natural. I think it's more beautiful when things are natural. I know it's harder to maintain, but, once you learn how to maintain is properly, you won't have so much trouble.

I agree with you. I know I don't have a lot of experience in this department, but I think you know what you're talking about.

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

ok?

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

I feel more comfortable with my hair relaxed. Do what works for you and I will do what works for me. I love seeing other women with natural hair, because it looks great..ON THEM..

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

I never realized (unitl Imus) that "nappy heads" was a derogatory thing that people said regarding the slaves back in the day. I won't use that word anymore in describing a black person, and I thing it sucks that black people want to straighten out their hair because they've bought into the belief that curly hair is unnattractive. I think you should grow your hair naturally and in a way that makes YOU feel attractive. This is a different time and, thank god, "beauty" is becoming more diverse.

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

I think that natural hair on black women is beautiful.

In particular, I've always loved the full-on "afro" look, much like these photos that you provided.

I know what you mean. If a black woman wants her hair straight, I see no problem with it, but I hate the fact that the natural look is looked down upon as if it's gross or dirty, when that's not the case.

EDIT: On Deal or No Deal, I love the model Hayley's hair.

http://www.nbc.com/Deal_or_No_Deal/model...

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

how about natural with a hair weave no chemicals just for length or just to change the color not with dye just with weave that's already colored that's pretty.

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

i've been wearing my natural hair for the past 3 years and i love it. natural is a personal preference just as perming/relaxing is. i opted to go natural because i was tired of having to worry about my hair when it rains or after going to a salon keeping "that" look. it's sad that almost every culture embraces their natural texture but ours and with negative comments like imus' that's what makes a lot of blacks negative with ourselves. too many people took offense to the former rather than the latter of his comment. i personally, love my "nappy" hair.

Black women %26amp; natural hair :)?

What are you talking about? Learn our own hair?! There's more black hairdressers than white ones. What makes you such an expert, you complacent jerk?

What are hair sprays that dont make flat iron that doesnt mess up the straightness?

I am black and i have long thick kinky hair( nappy hair) and i am not aloud to perm it because my dad says it will eventually make my hair fall out. So i get my hair blow dryed straight its some what like flat ironing. Sometimes my hair looks dry and i want to put hair spray in it but when i do it usaully starts getting kinky and poofy or really stiff and oily. Is there and type of hair spray that holds curls and keeps the flat ironed hair straight and neat.

What are hair sprays that dont make flat iron that doesnt mess up the straightness?

easy straight

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

Boot in the U.S. = High leg shoe

Boot in Uk= Refers to the trunk of a car?

Nappy in U.S. = Referring to hair

Nappy in Uk = Diaper Pins

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

well, nappy actually means DIaper....not the pin as such

my boyf is american and im english...we have had such a laugh with each other saying things unique to each country...

heres some:

UK: Cross = can mean to be angry/mad

USA: Cross = X one of those...or cross the street

UK: BUM BAGS

USA: Fanny packs....

UK: Fanny (ladies bits!)

USA: Fanny = Butt

USA: trunk (car boot)

UK: Trunk = elephants nose...!!

USA: Lady Bug

UK: Lady BIRD (you win with that...it is a bug)

UK: lolly pop man

USA: Crossing guard

UK: Queue

USA: Line

UK: my personal favoUrite.... At a restuarant with my guys folks... The waitress is listing the desserts...

'ok, we have chocolate pudding, cheesecake or Spotted Dick'

my guys mum nearly fell off her chair..

'Spotted what!!!!!?'

In the uk spotted dick is a dessert made with currants...

in the USA spotted dick...means... well, you know!!

lol..

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

We say tomato, you say tomato....

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

There is that. Then there is also where the US use words the Australia/UK never use. One I keep hearing is:

US say attorneys;

Aust/UK: lawyers, solicitors, barristers

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

trunk being the nose of an elephant.

the nappy is the towel you put around the baby, the pins are just pins, safety pins.

boot also means a type of shoe, and is often used when people are booted out of clubs.

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

Fanny for a start .... if only Americans realised.

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

Where did you get your info?

Nappy is not diaper pins. A nappy is the diaper.

There are too many words that mean different things on the other side of the ocean that make them too numerous to mention. However, since the language spoken in USA is supposedly English, the part I have a problem with is the written word. Why does they have to change the spelling of so many words. For example colour become color. They pronounce words wrongly also. For example Aluminium is pronounced Al - oom - i - num. WHY???????

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

My favorite British words that mean something totally different in the States are... bum and f@g (had to put the @ so I don't get censored).

A bum here in the states is either a homeless person, a rear end (butt, derriere), or a derogatory name to call someone ("You dirty bum!"). A f@g is a rude way to refer to a homosexual man, or sometimes used within the gay community itself (like when referring to a straight girl who hangs out with gay men, she's known as a "f@g hag"). In the UK, bum to to "borrow" something and a f@g is a cigarette... So in the UK you might ask to "bum a f@g", but if you said that here in the States, you'd get a LOT of weird looks!! ;)

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

LMAO @ SNETTERTON2

Thats a classic 'fanny'

In the US they have fanny packs and they sit on their fanny.

In the UK the fanny is a lady garden. lol xx

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

we need the words to tell you...

lift here is not an elevator

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

Pants in America means clothing to cover the legs.In England means underwear. We call pants trousers.

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

Hello. We steer a vehicle. American farm their steer.

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

America - fawcet = tap.......

England - tap = fawcet.

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

Monkeyface..

We pronounce it a-loom-i-num because that is how Americans spell it....aluminum.

I think we favor o-r instead of o-u-r because Americans like to simplify things. We have a lot to worry about. Maybe it was also to drop any overt reference to anything "French." We Americans like being independent.

Another word that comes to mind is "mind."

Brits - Mind your head.

Americans - Watch your head.

Both words mean to pay attention so that you don't hit your head, but actually how can one watch one's own head? We DO say, however, to mind one's p's and q's, or to mind one's manners.

Go figure....

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

In England we get a wash in a bath, and do our 'business' in a toilet.

...In the U.S. they just seem to use the bath for everything, (Quote: "can i use your bathroom") EEEWWW. lol

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

Fanny is my favourite.

In the US it is an innocuous word for 'bottom'

In the UK it is a rude word for a woman's genitals.

Tapping someone on the fanny could get you arrested in the UK.

F. A. G

In the US it is a derogatory name for a homosexual.

In the UK it's a colloquial name for a cigarette.

If you're in the redneck region of the USA never say "I'm just popping out for a quick f.a.g"....you probably wouldn't make it back in.

Vest

In the US it's a waistcoat

In the UK it's a singlet worn under a shirt.

Pants

In the US...trousers

In the UK...underpants

Shorts

In the US...underpants

In the UK...short trousers. (I don't know what soccer players wear in the US though)

Americans have some of the same words that you use but have a different meaning. What are they?

alternate is used where we would use alternative by many, but not all, Americans; which is confusing as they also keep alternate for its UK meaning too!

Who is the ugliest boy at calumet ?

he's short and nappy hair...........etc

Who is the ugliest boy at calumet ?

who's the ugliest little girl? I know who she is...

Who is the ugliest boy at calumet ?

Who is the ugliest boy at calumet ?

I don't know anyone at calumet...but I'm guessing he's some little prepubescent kid with oily skin making your life miserable

Can a white person use black hair products??

ok well my sister says i have very nappy hair like a a black girl [not tryin to be racist at all] so we found this pantene relaxed and natural hair conditioner. it is for colored women because they usually have nappy hair. so my sister says i should try it to make my hair look less nappy. i want to try it but my question is since it is for colored women, if i use it will it damage my hair?

Can a white person use black hair products??

Man! I am sorry that you are taking such a beating over a legitamet question. Normall hair product are hair products and they can be used by anyone no matter who they are marketed toward. But when it comes to black peoples and white peoples hair there are some fundamental differences that should be taken into account. The most important one is that black people tend to need hair and scalp products that provide a lot of mouisture which often means the products tend to be oily. White people do not typically need additional mouisture but use products that remove some of the oil.

Since you are only using the conditioner, it should not be a problem for you because it should help to soften the hair but i would also recommend the Paul Mitchell anti-frizz products or the Tigi Bedhead Control Freak anti-frizz stuff. I'm black and I love them both. I hope this helps. 閳?br>Can a white person use black hair products??

Yup, it will not damage your hair but it will make it a bit more oily.

Can a white person use black hair products??

well if your hair is the exact same texture as an african american woman,

than it doesnt matter what color your skin is

you could probably still use it

Can a white person use black hair products??

no... regular people can use those products too.

Can a white person use black hair products??

uh, usually have nappy hair

the last time i checked i could run a comb through my hair without it getting stuck or breaking in half

i think it will be safe enough for your "nappy" hair

but i'm sure there are products for your problem that are ment for your hair type.

Can a white person use black hair products??

I don't think that it would damage your hair but you should ask the people selling it just in case. I hope this helps.

Can a white person use black hair products??

I tried that exact shampoo because my hair was really dry. It made my hair so greasy it looked like I did not take a shower for weeks. I had to wash my hair like 3 or 4 times to get all the extra oil out. I say proceed with caution!

Can a white person use black hair products??

oh yes, because black womens hair is made out of superhuman particles that can withstand tortuous treatments. you may not be a racist, but you sure are an idiot.

its for hair. ALL HAIR if your hair is kinky or hard to manage, you would be better off using something that is for hard to manage hair.

Can a white person use black hair products??

I am pretty sure that saying "colored" is no longer a politically correct way to refer to African-Americans. Of course not all people who we think are African-Americans are of African descent either, so I don't know anymore... Maybe you should go to a hair dresser instead of trying to fix it yourself. My wife has this one friend who keeps dying her hair, and now it is all burnt up and nasty looking. She needs to cut it off and let it grow back normal. It is all fried, and looks horrible.

Can a white person use black hair products??

Colored??? Colored??? You're calling black women, colored yet you're not trying to be racist? Please.

Can a white person use black hair products??

No, hair is hair. If your hair is the same texture as black people's it should work for you. Some people consider the term "nappy" offensive. You could call it something else, like tightly curled.

Can a white person use black hair products??

It all depends because our hair is more resistant to relaxers. So thats why our hair has the strengh for those. But if your hair is truly coarse like ours then you may be able to use it . If not you may risk losing your hair. Be careful

Can a white person use black hair products??

Yes a "white person" can use products produced for women of color. African American products usually work your hair to make if soft and hold more moisture so why not? And if your hair is nappy as you , the colored hair products would be ideal for your hair. They would provide moisture, softness and make your hair very manageable. Plus most of them do not carry alcohol(alcohol drys out your hair), therefore that's an added bonus. When you go to the colored hair store ask the sales person for a specific product for your hair.good luck.

p.s. not all black people have nappy hair. I'm fully black and my hair is soft and curly.=)

Can a white person use black hair products??

if u have nappy dry hair then it might work for u. I've tried using it and it left my hair looking dirty because of all the grease, moisturizers and oils it contains.

Can a white person use black hair products??

No it will not damage your hair. My hair is very curly. couse and frizzy and I use ethnic products. I may recommend not using Pantene though. That stuff makes my hair frizzier than ever!! I would recommend going to Sally Beauty Supply or a beauty store and checking out their products there. Chances are you will have better luck will those. Well, good luck!!!!!

Can a white person use black hair products??

No it won't hurt your hair, it does contain more oil that you are probably used to having. But it won't hurt to try. Many people have kinky hair, it isn't only Black people. If you have Hispanic, ancestors, or even Irish ( Fuzzy red hair) it could come that background. Maybe you just need to have your hair relaxed. I have a friend (white) who has it done all the time.

Can a white person use black hair products??

its ok for you to use them. Before they came out with relaxed and natural. . .I used to use the regular pantene

also, if you are concerned about the way your hair is. Why dont you go to a hair dresser that is experienced with all types of hair or textured hair or black hair?

Can a white person use black hair products??

yes youcan you use it...your skin color has nothing to do with the way your hair is.

yourr welcommeess:]]

much lovess;;

Lauren%26amp;hearts%26amp;smiley for ya.

Can a white person use black hair products??

Honey hair is hair ! You go by texture not the race of the hair. Besides we are all one race, "The human race"!

Can a white person use black hair products??

it wont damage your hair. my sisters white and she has tight curls, and nappy/frizzy hair. she uses another conditioner that helps out her hair, and its nappy hair. it doesn't matter by the skin. its yur hair a white girl%26amp;black girl can have the same hair!

Can a white person use black hair products??

Yeah, the chemicals in that specific shampoo are not the things they use in relaxers or perms for coarser hair. The stuff in shampoos and conditioners in drug stores are almost the same across the board.

Black/African American people and others of any race with coarse hair sometimes use perms and relaxers to straighten their hair, this is a chemical process that straightens the hair shaft and has to be done periodically.

Just because something in a store is marketed for Blacks, Asians or Hispanics, doesn't mean it will "hurt" you. People do have differnent types of hair and skin, but lotion is lotion, sunscreen is sunscreen, soap is soap.

As an example, look at the hair dye section - Loreal has a line called Fieria with multicultural models on the boxes, and there's a line of haircolor geared towards black women by another company with black models of various complexions, then there's a company marketing colors for Latinas with names like Mexico Flame, Crema de la Corazon, etc.- it's the SAME chemicals inside the box! A white or any woman could get any of these hair dyes in light brown and it still comes out as light brown no matter what the brand.

Multi-cultural marketing pisses me off it it makes people think "It's just for them". The ingredients on the panel are the same, maybe in different formulas, but it's all the same in the end.

I'm black and pilipino, there's no shampoo for me :) I use Garnier.

Your question was very honest and I hope you keep learning about other multicultural stuff in the future and keep your mind open. You never know, someone may tell their kid, "You have nappy hair like that white girl over there" and point at you :) We're all connected despite the marketing.

Can a white person use black hair products??

Products catered toward colored women probably won't damage your hair. The most harm they will do is probably weigh your hair down. However- I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve with your hair. Most African American women have kinky and dry hair. The products we use, usually put moisture into out hair. African American women also have no need to wash our hair as often because our scalps don't produce as much oil. If you wash your hair everyday or even as much as once every three days- you probably don't need to use products catered toward African- American women. If you do wash your hair everyday and you notice that it get's dry and frizzy- stop washing it so often.

To make your hair less "nappy" I would recommend using aveda products, john frieda, or Frutis products. What you probably need is

1. A good flat iron

2. Some frizz ease

3. A leave in conditioner

Go into an Aveda store or Aveda online and they have this product that comes in a blue and white jar called anti humectant (or something like that) - that works really well when you are blow drying and flat ironing your hair.

If you are not wearing your hair down- get you some alcohol free styling gel make your hair a little more slick and less frizzy.

(also, even though I not offended by your use of the word nappy, you may want to be careful with how you use the word. Some women would take offense becasue it does have a deragotory connotation. I would suggest kinky instead)

:)

Can a white person use black hair products??

speaking as a licensed cosmetology instructor, platform artist, and director of education for a hair company, i want to go on record by saying:

"hair has no color" products are to be used according to the texture, elasticity, porosity, strength, and needs of the hair and individual.

now, granted, there are certain cultures that may use certain products more than other cultures. however, we can only attain the words "only" "ever" can't be used in this context. i assure you, i have had the good fortune, and opportunity to work on many, many "hair textures" and with clients from all over the world. i must say, i thank God that i had the selection, and education, knowledge, to be able to make the good choices (from the good information acquired from the continuing education classes i have attended all these years) i also worked with great designers who taught me a lot about different "hair-textures"and to use all of the different products,to obtain certain looks. think, women of color, native American women, Chinese, japanese, portuguese, Hispanic, Asian, pakistani, new Zealand, Greek women... my point about this endless blather, before attempting a chemical process: please go to a licensed professional. second: hair has no color thanks for reading this

Can a white person use black hair products??

I have some background in this area since I am white but by g/f is black, and she is supersmart about using hair products. She helps my own 'nappy' hair with can get that 'brillo soap pad look' with some of her products, and because of this, my hair looks really great. I don't find any problems with it. But you need to know which products are the best, since even within the category you mention, there are lots of choices.

P.S. I think you should think of an alternative term to the word 'colored woman.'

Can a white person use black hair products??

OMG - Stop NOW - you'll turn black!

I need some love help?

What do i do with the roots of my hair after a quiting the relaxers?

besides flat irons[cuz they don't work]. my rootz r so nappy.help?!?!

What do i do with the roots of my hair after a quiting the relaxers?

Go to nappturality.com. It's a great site for transitioning and taking care of natural hair.

What do i do with the roots of my hair after a quiting the relaxers?

I'm guessing you are trying to give your hair a rest or go natural. First, go to a stylist and let him/her get you started.

The really easy answer is to cut out the relaxer and wear your hair short while it grows in. If you are trying to keep the length for a while, all you can do is use quality products to deep condition the new growth and tame it a little. Try Aveda hang straight before you blow dry your hair and it will act as an anti-humectant. If you are trying to wear straight styles, you are probably going to have to pull out the old-fashioned straightening comb and do what mama did. Be careful pressing that new growth. Don't put too much heat in. It's delicate and needs some TLC. Keep the new growth moisturized and very conditioned and soon you will have the hair you had when you were 5! Don't get frustrated and give up on the new growth. Give it a good year or so and hopefully you will love the results.

You should think about wearing styles that work with curly or kinky hair. Try a rod (or wet) set and wear your hair full of spiral curls. They last about a week. This is a great style for growing in natural hair.

If you are thinking about braids, be forewarned that when the braids come out, you're natural hair is very thick, puffy and it can be quite unruly. Also, lots of braids tend to break off the hair. Thick, neat cornrows are much more hair-healthy.

What do i do with the roots of my hair after a quiting the relaxers?

PRESSING COMB THAT HOW I DO IT WHEN I AM GROWING OUT THE RELAXER.

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

I'm not saying this is true for all black females. but it seems like it for some. a lot of black girls at my school will say "ew, look at her nappy ***" or "she needs to get a perm". shouldnt black women be proud of their "natural" and not "nappy" hair instead of trying to fit in, or whatever the reason is for getting relaxers?

I'll be honost, I'm black, and I get perms, and I have been one of the people to say those things. but i have, in a way, grown out of that. i hate getting perms because it takes my hair out, but I still have long thick hair and dont want it natural because it will be all over the place and i dont want to cut it either. i'll probably start pressing it or something.

anyways, back to the point. what i'm saying is. why do you think that some black females find it unattractive for other black females to wear their hair natural? i cant remember why i thought so.

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

heck yea! i remember when i used to where my hair in a fro, everyone was looking at me as if the never saw hair before!

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

i think that people in general look down on things different than themselves. this could be due to thinking that their own way is the best and therefore only way of doing things (such as my dad). or it could be that if they insult you first then they won.

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

I wear my hair natural and people often tell me I have beautiful hair.

A black woman wearing her hair natural doesn't = kinky or "nappy"

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

These women suffer from self-hatred. They are ashamed of the way their hair grows naturally. We all have to stop and think, "what's wrong with the way God made me?"

Of course the answer is "NOTHING"!

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

I love natural hair and I wore my hair that way before, I am permed now I have thought about going back natural... truthfully the only negative comments I ever go were from family memebers

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

Well, it can be due in part to the images we get from the media of what is beautiful (an answer I gave for another question). In trying to fit in to society, we lose who we are. When someone reminds of us who we are, i.e., wearing hair naturally, speaking in a native tongue, etc., we are slapped back into reality, and some of us do't like it. Also, people tend to be insecure about who they are, and will point out differences in others to feel better about themselves. In reality, what we don't like abut others is really what we don't like about ourselves.

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

Some sisters are NOT comfortable in their own skin or natural state. They do it for the same reason white women get plastic surgery, color their hair, tan their bodies etc.

It's all in your personal preference or because society... mainly TV and media has said this way is the right way 2 represent beauty.

Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder, if you feel confident and beautiful INSIDE than you glow and attract people on the outside.

Loving ones self is the hardest lesson you will ever learn.

Just because someone wears their hair natural does not make them different.....It says they are whole and complete and know exactly who they are and don't need 2 change 2 fit in.

Ignorance is bliss, people laugh and talk about what they don't understand.

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

Your observation is amusing because not too long ago it was "wrong" not to wear your hair natural as a black woman. Funny how fads and opinions swing back and forth... don't let folks bother you. In 20 years their attitude will change again.

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

well i guess its cause society tells us that our hair is not beautiful.. i mean the popular images of women are ones with straight long hair and usually not kinky hair even though it is beautiful if you know how to take care of it. people jus need to stop hating themselves. natural hair can be so gorgeous. ive been looking at this natural hair site and the texture natural black hair can bring out is jus amazing and you can do anything with it. my hair is natural but im half italian so it isnt really kinky but i dont straighten it i jus let it be wavy/curly

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

i think they are jealous. i wear my hair natural, and i get dirty looks from blacks and whites. i used to be self-conscious about it b/c of what other ppl thought, but i learned how to take care of and style it myself. it's a statement that not all black women can make. jealousy!

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

There is really no catch-all reason for why people do this - everyone is different. Some potential reasons may include:

- In our communities we are typically taught that girls should get perms when they transition into womanhood. Natural hair is thought of as cute on little girls only. Older girls and women should "do something with it."

- Many of our parents sent us the message that natural hair was generally unpleasant by getting angry, frustrated, and maybe even making negative comments during "wash days" and/or pressing our hair on all special occasions.

- Some people just make fun of and make negative comments about others in general, and it's a "fill in the blank" situation, ie they will pick out anything to comment on.

- Some people just think natural hair doesn't look good. They like straight hair, and as with anything believe that others should think the way they do.

- Some may be buying into media images of attractiveness.

- Some may be saying it just for a laugh or easy pseudo approval from others.

There was a boy in my elementary school who constantly called a girl "n**** naps." His hair was also tightly coiled. I think he did it because it worked, that is it got her upset and aggravated and got laughs from other people. Again, I think this was a situation of picking out any characteristic that was an easy target because it was very uncommon in my school. I also had natural hair at the time and he never said anything to me, likely because it wasn't totally about the hair.

Hope this helps, Kaya

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

First and foremost it's sad to say, but I think most black women hate on each other just because they can. Any and everything they can find wrong with another black female whether it be the truth or not is fair game. It's so sad because as a people don't we have enough hatred coming at us externally? Why do we need the internal self hatred as well?

I say wear your hair however you see fit. If it works for you, that's all that should matter. Yes, having relaxed or straight hair seems to be more widely "accepted" than wearing our hair naturally. But don't ever let anyone tell you that you're any less of a person because of it. Be proud of who you are and the choices you make. Relaxed or natural - one is not any better than the other. It's just about what works for you. =)

Why do some black females seem to look down on other black females if they wear their hair natural?

Jealousy. They wish they were brave enough to do it :)

Seriously, it is not just black women. A lot of Asian women and white women are born with curly frizzy psycho hair (like mine). From speaking to other Asians, at least, she confided in me that it is a status symbol in her culture.

The straight look is the most accepted style as being neat and "done". But for the girls with natural hair who "rock it" and don't leave it in an unmanageable mess but really do style it, it looks great.

Love your curly hair! I love mine :)

Do you people think you have straight flowing hair?

Face it..it is pretty damn nappy.

Do you people think you have straight flowing hair?

I no mines is.

Do you people think you have straight flowing hair?

Yeah it is nappy. They're lucky to have such unique hair.

Mik, stoppit. There's nothing wrong with nappy hair. Don't let Amerikkkan assimilation teach you such disgusting things.

Do you people think you have straight flowing hair?

hmmm, i suppose you will continue to write questions like these for a week or two.....first of all my hair is long and straight, and guess what? im black! just because i'm black doesnt mean my hair is nappy, so you need to shut the hell up, and get a life.

Do you people think you have straight flowing hair?

my hair isnt nappy because im not black....so yes I do think I have straight flowing hair...what about you??

Do you people think you have straight flowing hair?

Actually, I do think I have straight, flowing hair. It is about three feet long and straight as a board. It is also original equipment.

So what?

I assume this post is to insult people with, what you call, "nappy" hair.

Your insult falls short of the mark and is particularly juvenile and pathetic.

Black women, if you woke up with natural long straight hair would you be happier?

Almost EVERY Black woman I see either has some type of weave in their hair or they have their hair straighten. If you woke up tommorrow morning with naturally straight hair then would you be satisfied? You wouldn't have to pay to get your nappy hair straighten or get weaves put in, you would just look white like you want to.

Black women, if you woke up with natural long straight hair would you be happier?

I'm a Black Woman and my hair is pass my shoulders. It's growing out of my own scalp and it's wavy. Both my parents are Black. And yes you do see a lot of Black women with weave but you see White women in their older years getting the same thing because White women go bald faster then Black women. Our hair is thick, nappy and it's like steel wool at times. But I would much rather have that type of hair then to have what you White women have because later on up in years all you have to do is get a serious cold and then you shed like dogs! So no Miss Thing..........I don't want nothing that you white women have. Because what I have is in better condition and when we get older we hold up at our ages a lot better then you all do. You White women say you're 40 and look 60. Black women say they're 50 and look 35! You know why? Because we as Black women have it going on! So Stop Being Such A HATER!

Black women, if you woke up with natural long straight hair would you be happier?

I sure would be happier and futhermore having long hair will not make me look white but beautiful.

Black women, if you woke up with natural long straight hair would you be happier?

why can't people be happy with who they are.

I know I'd be happy if I woke up in the morning if i had an @ss.

Black women, if you woke up with natural long straight hair would you be happier?

Not all Black women want straight hair it is apart of Black women culture but do you thicken a stringy strand of hair, thats possible,Why do your own have problems,by the way stop being a slave to tanning or plumping up your lips!!!!!!

Black women, if you woke up with natural long straight hair would you be happier?

HELL NO. im trying to grow out an afro. foreal. THIZZZZ IZZ WAT IT IZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

Black women, if you woke up with natural long straight hair would you be happier?

No, I'm happy with my natural hair, because it's unique and healthy. I straighten my hair sometimes, but what's wrong with that, I'm just going for a different look not trying to be White.

Black women, if you woke up with natural long straight hair would you be happier?

No. I am happy nappy! I would never want straight hair. I'd have no idea what to do with it and would probably go get a perm.

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

I just wonder why people think of nappy black hair as a bad thing. I just read a "best answer" by a black girl who says she is fully black but has wavy and curly hair and that makes her hair nice. In other words "good hair". She then calls tightly curled and highly textured hair "nappy and buckshot", as to prove that not all black people have that kind of hair. I'm just curious as to why nappy hair is considered ugly and why loosely curled or relaxed hair is considered acceptable. I cut my nearly bra-strap length relaxed hair a few months ago to be 100% natural, and I LOVE it. Only serious answers, racist or otherwise stupid answers will be reported.

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

This is because, unfortunately, the European standard of beauty (silky, long hair and light skin) has permeated black society so that lighter skin and "whiter-looking" hair is more desirable. This same effect can be observed in other minority communities: Many East Asians now have surgery on their eyelids to make their eyes appear rounder and more European. Many Indian women use skin-lightening creams and avoid the sun in order to maintain a lighter skin tone. And of course, black women have been chemically relaxing their hair for ages.

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

Maybe she was refering to the people who do absolutely nothing to their hair and have bad hygeine? I am sure you do SOMETHING to your hair. I like alot of different hairstyles and all different types of hair, but I also think that hair (of any color or texture) that is unkept is nasty.

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

well, on most races nappy hair doesn't look that great, but on black people, it looks awesome!

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

some people just like to label things good or bad there is actually no real good reason why people do that i like natural hair whatever way it is im not racist or big on labelin things im sure your hair looks great girl!

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

myspace.com/thewonderfullworldofjd

it isn't spam.

just look at my pics bc i dont have any pictures of my hair on myspace.

and people think black hair is a bad thing because of an internalized self-hate dating back from slavery.

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

I don't even like the expression nappy. Why is our hair given such negative connotations? I so agree with you girl. I do wear a relaxer. but i also love my natural hair. When i go without a relaxer for a while, i get "When are you going to do your hair? " Excuse me. Once it's combed and washed it is done. I love my hair. Straight or not straight :) We all have to learn how to love ourselves the way God made us. :)

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

Personally, I love hair with tight curls. I have friends who deem their own hair nappy and claim to hate it because it's difficult to manage. Putting this kind of hair into a pony tail for instance, makes the roots not lie flat and pull back tight. In other words, the chunks of hair reveal the scalp against the head or they simply stand up creating a bump. If you can't handle that, then why not leave your hair loose or in a stylish head band?! I think that what makes your hair do nice is how you wear it yourself! Good for you in going natural.

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

Media promotes straight and wavy hair, but doesn't show beautiful nappy hair, so people follow it.

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

Im black and lots of people in my family have natural hair. I think its beautiful and plan on goind natural soon. I think people have a problem with Natural hair because they have a negative association with it. People assume that natural means "nappy" and thats not true, natural hair can be as beautiful as relaxed. I think that these feelings may date back to slavery and alot of african americans wanted to be accepted so they tried to stray away from their natural heritage as much as possible.

Natural Black Hair, I have to ask...?

Dont worry about shallow people who take things in from our past. To some extent it is not their fault as some girls get told that their hair is "good" from a young age.

P.S Nappy comes from the term "Naps" invented by africans to describe the seperate coild on out heads. Its a loving word, Nappturality all the way baybee!

Why is "nappy headed hos" racist?

I dont understand what about this is racist. Was it in the context that he said it? If so, explain. What is "nappy" hair? I thought there was a band called "Nappy Roots" so it's not a derogatory comment?

If anything, why aren't people more worried about the fact that its sexist? Hos? Are you kidding me? I can see how that is offensive.

But if someone called me a thin-haired ho, I would be pissed about being called a ho.

Someone explain this to me. I really want to understand.

Why is "nappy headed hos" racist?

The "snappy headed" portion was just a derogatory statement with racial overtones - it refers to unkempt long curly hair, generally associated with people who aren't using good hygiene. The bad part was "Ho's" and yes it is gender offensive ... but it's also racist because it is African-American slang for "whore." He tried to use Ebonics very unsuccessfully. It was in very poor context for an old, rich white guy to try and sound like he understood the black street lingo and use the words in the way that he did. It was very awkward at the least but in his defense, I don't think he had any idea what he was doing.

Does anyone have any good ideas for a hairstyle for me ?

ok i have natural (nappy ) hair so i cant have it out- i have to have it in braids , i need a braid style that i can wear to my brothers graduation - so if yall have ideas

Does anyone have any good ideas for a hairstyle for me ?

i dont know much to tell you about that but i suggest going to a proffesional hair place they will know what to do!

Does anyone have any good ideas for a hairstyle for me ?

I have natural nappy hair too but I straighten it out. You should get a perm and have big wavy curls on the bottom

Does anyone have any good ideas for a hairstyle for me ?

I have braids to i just pull it in a high ponytail but not too high ,than i jel my baby hair down than i look good? try that.Or you can braid it in 5 big braids and dip it in hot water then wait like 1-2 hours and then take the braids then it will be wayvy, thats how mine is write now,i like it , i did it myself

Does anyone have any good ideas for a hairstyle for me ?

I know alot of ppl that have this problem try a relaxer or blow dry it stright and use a flat iron but for the summer braids are easy it all depends on what you like and what fits your life style do you want it simple or somthing that needs maintance and it also depends on the shape of your face and what brings out your best feaute.

Does anyone have any good ideas for a hairstyle for me ?

weave girl they wont know the real hair under

Does anyone have any good ideas for a hairstyle for me ?

well this is easy 4 me to say but i have naturally striaght hair like its so straight that i cant even curl it lol but i say that u should blow dry it and then straighten it idk how it will look but hopefully you would look good lol

Does anyone have any good ideas for a hairstyle for me ?

you could braid it into a ponytail with some cute design and put some kind of cute hair peice on it. if your hair is that "nappy" you should consider getting a perm relaxer.

I am african amer. and i...?

i am african amer. and i have really nappy hair like this (not me) example this.http://www.barzey.com/archives/pictures/...

and i am going to a dinner dance for the law enforcement my job. on wesday and its a very formal event i have this really nice dress and shows and stuff. i really want my roots to be really straight without getting a perm. what should i do?

I am african amer. and i...?

have your hair pressed, kinky hair like that takes a press really well

I am african amer. and i...?

you should blow dry your hair , it at least will last a nigth ^^ like cinderella

I am african amer. and i...?

just be yourself and be proud about it

I am african amer. and i...?

You could use a chi flat iron .... take small sections and do the ends first then work your way back to the roots... But use some oil in your hair... I recommend kemi oil.. Be sure to wash your hair and blow dry it really well... Or you could use a straighting comb.. or go to the salon (black) and get a blow out with a blowdryer..

I hope all works out for you...

I am african amer. and i...?

If your hair really is that tightly coiled it will be very difficult to get it straight without a relaxer perm. You could hot comb it, but you also risk damaging it just like with a relaxer...or you could just purchase a wig for that event.

I wondering why do you think there's something wrong with wearing your own natural hair for the event? With proper care, natural locs can be beautiful. Get yourself a nice deep conditioning treatment and just go and enjoy yourself.

People already know what your your real hair looks like and probably like you and think you are pretty just as you are. No need to alter it (and risk damaging it) just for the one occasion.

I am african amer. and i...?

use some seriously good conditioner and brush it out then straighten it.

I am african amer. and i...?

My view on this hair question:

I think the right shade of blond hair colour next to African skin is beyond this world powerful and sexy. Let it be curley and bleach it the right shade of blonde. It brings out the colour of your eyes and glamorizes your appearance without denying anything from your cultural identity. But that is just my humble opinion.

My hair is so curly when i try to staighten it that wont work?

what can i do to make it staight and keep it that way i'm black so u guys know how nappy there hair is

My hair is so curly when i try to staighten it that wont work?

It is nearly impossible to straighten naturally curly hair. I tried straightening my sister in laws curly hair and it didn't happen. Have you tried a salon or at least contacting one?

What we have tried in cosmetology class on curly hair is to roll the hair up with big (biggest you can get in your hair) rollers. What this does is makes the curl bigger and not so tight. This could be something you could try.

My hair is so curly when i try to staighten it that wont work?

Its not IMPOSSIBLE to straighten curly hair. it can be straightened temporarily. I have very curly hair. I just blowed my hair out with a blowdryer/pik attachment and then used a flat iron and its straighter than ever. Report It

My hair is so curly when i try to staighten it that wont work?

I said NEARLY impossible!!! Report It

My hair is so curly when i try to staighten it that wont work?

try "sleek look" by "matrix" its in a bright orange bottle in alomst any solon or hair supply stores, get the shampoo and leave in conditioner, use that and then blow dry it while brushing through it then use a straightener for the stuff thats still curly... or u could always get it chemicaly straightend, or just go to a salon and see wat they recomend!good luck!

My hair is so curly when i try to staighten it that wont work?

HELLLLLLLLOOOO!!!! how long have you been black? of course our hair is courser then other people, but, HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE STRAIGTHEN COMB, OR DARK AND LOVELY PERM ? any hair product used takes maintenance so it will stay straight as long as your natural grow out it's natural roots and so the prem is repeated to the new growth only. go to a salon for black hair and have your hair professionally done. I can't believe you did not know that.

My hair is so curly when i try to staighten it that wont work?

It may take a while, but you should use a straightener with ceramic plates that heat up to make your hair straight. It may take a while but keep at it and eventually, you could get it pretty straight.Even pretty straight is better than nothing!

My hair is so curly when i try to staighten it that wont work?

well u could try hairspray u know all those stuff!U could get a shampoo to make ur hair straight!

My hair is so curly when i try to staighten it that wont work?

leave your hair as it is.......beautiful

My hair is so curly when i try to staighten it that wont work?

umm... idk

I have stright hair and sometimes i wish that it was curly....

My mom cut her hair due to overprocessing and weave now it's short and nappy what con she do?

she used miracle grow, different types of hair products.

My mom cut her hair due to overprocessing and weave now it's short and nappy what con she do?

Its very unfortunate when damage to your hair happens but tell your mom to look at it like this, since her hair is already short it gives her a chance to nurture the new tresses that will be growing in. If she starts now and continues, then she wont really have to do any type of repair to old damage tresses. I suggest she stay away from any chemical processing and deep condition hair every 4 weeks. She should try to find a hairstyle that requires low maintenance so that she doesn't put excess stress on her hair. Stay away from products that contain alcohol because they dry out the hair. Moisturize hair to prevent breakage, and trim dead ends every 6 weeks. This could really be a good beginning for her.Tell her to be patient hair goes back.

My mom cut her hair due to overprocessing and weave now it's short and nappy what con she do?

i would suggest that your mother keeps a weekly appointment with her stylist, and trys a short yet spiky cut that frames her face.

My mom cut her hair due to overprocessing and weave now it's short and nappy what con she do?

if she did not go to a professional then i would suggest her doing so, to make sure she cut all the damaged hair out. if she does not want to relax her hair then maybe she should find a shop that presses hair. try looking for hair professionals that are an expertise in growing and natural hair care. (there is no product that will grow ur hair, proper managing is what makes it grow)

My mom cut her hair due to overprocessing and weave now it's short and nappy what con she do?

Wash your hair every wk. or 2. Using Loreal Vive Thickening Sham %26amp; Con. or try the one for damaged and split ends. Your mom needs to deep condition. Use Africa's Best Hair Mayonnaise to deep con. When hair is dry use organic root stimulator carrot oil (use it once after every wash) not too much. You don't want your hair to be greasy because it will attract dust and makes your hair dirty and flat. Another good product is the Profectiv Mega growth. You can alternate between each time you wash your hair. You don't want your hair to get too use to a product it won't have the same effect after a while. Limit the use of heat (irons) and use rollers 3 times per wk and wrap hair other days. Perm hair every 2 mths and trim ends each time you perm. And you will definately achieve longer and stronger hair if you follow this.

My mom cut her hair due to overprocessing and weave now it's short and nappy what con she do?

How can I get loose hair?

I have real nappy hair, I want it to be straight, like caucasian, indian, asian hair ect.

I want it to be able to get "wet" when I take a shower, Is this possible? If so, any suggestions?

How can I get loose hair?

use a straightner

How can I get loose hair?

I DO NOT KNOW

How can I get loose hair?

You could try to go to a salon and get it permed straight (with chemicals) or do it yourself. If your hair is long enough to you could flat iron it too but I'm not sure. I have thick nappy hair too but it's long so I flat iron it.

How can I get loose hair?

Funny, you should condition them daily. Yeah wash them may make them start breaking, but new ones will be softer

How can I get loose hair?

Most definitely try the salons for people of color. They do an utterly fantastic job of straightening and softening hair. Then be certain to ask them which products you can buy and use at home. You'll be soooooooooooo much happier. :%26gt;)

How can I get loose hair?

WARNING!!!! NOT AN ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION

i read your previous questions and maybe you should just step in front of a speeding bus since you have such a problem with your ethnic identity.

for the child of parents "actually born in Africa and not the ghettos of America", living in the suburbs seems to have caused you to remove yourself from all things associated with being black in America. i agree in casting off some categorizations that are placed upon us like rap music and gangsta attitudes. but try not to shun other things we were placed upon this earth with like kinky or "nappy" hair on your head or on your face.

hopefully you will find confidence in truly being yourself and one day cease to find things to be changed or replaced with some imposed ideal.

peace

How can I get loose hair?

So YOU call ME an IDIOT for almost asking the same question in a roundabout way, something with our nappy hair. So what was that about seriously? You were being somehwhat hypocritial.

Anyway since I don't like to condescend people I try suggesting mousse or gel first. I havent tried if yet for my hair but I'm hoping i get it like that, too

Im a boy and i want to grow my hair out what should i do so it wont turn nappy and dry?

Im a boy and i want to grow my hair out what should i do so it wont turn nappy and dry?

The ultimate truth is that for hair to grow longer, we have to eat healthy, exercise adequately, reduce stress and most important sleep well. Include B-complex, B6, and vitamin C, E to make up for any deficiencies. To Know more about your hair http://tipsfromruby-hairgrow.blogspot.co... will help you.

Oh... and Imus and Baldwin didn't do anything wrong... It was all the network news shows making money exploiting them... if not for all the network news I would have never heard either of them or what they said... so thanks to ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, FOX and the rest of the news vultures that suck the humanity out of life...

just watch them milk stories to death.... I hope the people of Virginia Tech take them to task and get them off that story so people can get on with their lives ....

oh...btw ...fyi... nobody really cares why Cho did what he did or what caused it or who messed up.... many are just glad he saved the tax payers the cost of a lengthy trial with numerous appeals and extended imprisonment that would have cost everyone a fortune in tax money.... and keeping the victims family's from praying for real justice...and did it himself.

Perhaps if you learned to speak English, we might have some idea of what you are talking about.

you're trying to be funny but it's not really working

I'm close to being a level 4 on answers. Need advice to become a nappy-head point ho?

Your cute :) I'm right behind you on that one! I think if you have a parent/teacher conference coming up that will help the process, if you don't go bald during that time.

Jumping to level three after 100 more points. I don't have time for this, I have biweekly plans to finish and entering grades. The real question is why am I still on this site and getting nothing really done? Good luck with that nappy headed look.

I'm close to being a level 4 on answers. Need advice to become a nappy-head point ho?

Kind of a tasteless Imus reference. If the context you were using it in was funny, then it'd be ok. However, regurgitation of this embarrassing and rediculous statement is only worsened by it's total lack of relevance. In fact, I find it hard to believe that your hair isn't already quite nappy...considering the amount of time you obviously spend with your head up your rear. Point ho? Yes, what's your point, ho?

I'm close to being a level 4 on answers. Need advice to become a nappy-head point ho?

I seriously think people need to chill out. I don't see how you wanting to have be a, "nappy-headed point ho," is being racist but perhaps that is just CRAZY ME being all sensible and not jumping to conclusions. I'm loco like that.

you do your thang Nappy-wanna-be. I got yo back foo.

What is the big deal with imus calling the rutgers what he did?

ok..black people have nappy hair..so that justified...lots of hispanics(which i am) also do..no big deal. and the wrod ho is so widespread, its lost its origional meaning. in my opinion, the whole world is making such a big deal out of nothing....get over it

What is the big deal with imus calling the rutgers what he did?

Hey, you left out white people! I'm offended, lol. I have some nappy *** hair every morning!

What is the big deal with imus calling the rutgers what he did?

not the whole world, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are making the big deal, and the world which has learned to listen when they make the wind blow is simply sailing with that wind.

I only saw a snippette of his comments, but didn't he just compare them to the "nappy headed Hoes" or did he actually say they were. 'Like' and 'Are' make a world of difference in statements of that nature

What is the big deal with imus calling the rutgers what he did?

Because america hates white "men" and i mean men just men, if it was a women they wouldnt of made a big deal about it

What is the big deal with imus calling the rutgers what he did?

Maybe you are correct but sorry I think anyone who posits these type of vindictive comments is simply doing it to offend. No one needs to use inflammatory language to get their point across. Imus frequently uses derogatory statements to pull in ratings from poorly educated individuals who have nothing better to do than stir up racial hatred. Is that really someone you want to defend?

What is the big deal with imus calling the rutgers what he did?

So you're here making a big deal about everybody making a big deal out of it? LOL

What is the big deal with imus calling the rutgers what he did?

Please be aware that my answer is only meant to prove a point.

Wouldn't you feel differently if the team was entirely hispanic woman and Imus referred to them as ******* chihuahuas?

What is the big deal with imus calling the rutgers what he did?

I don't call the ladies in my life things like that. You might and that says something about you. Ask yourself this. Would Don Imus call his wife a whore as a joke on national radio? No I don't think so. Why? Cause he respects her.

What is the big deal with imus calling the rutgers what he did?

Unfortunately, his employer didn't agree with you, so they fired him.

What is the big deal with imus calling the rutgers what he did?

I may not listen to Imus, but even I realize there was a lot more to those comments than just about hair, or people would not be so angry. There is a tendency to minimize such talk because hot button issues make many people uncomfortable. But Imus' diatribes are a great jumping off point to talk about such issues because his words showed how ugly comments on Race and Sex are combined to insinuate other hot button issues. If you see the full broadcast, Imus cracks a joke about tattoos, muscles, and Mannish traits he claimed to see on the Rutgers team, this is hate speech at it's lowest, %26amp; most insidious form because he is hinting at Transgenderism %26amp; Lesbianism (often conflated by bigots), as if those traits were a big deal, and that you could tell all that just from a person's looks. Listen up, Don, being pale and frail doesn't make YOU a vampire, cut out the stereotypes, please!. Because of uptight elements in our culture, Imus has been allowed to use character assasination against women %26amp; minorities as a way to get yucks for 40 years! It's about time some of us said, "Yuck"! Just because Imus was in rehab during the start of every major social change movement going doesn't give him the right to slur or call into question the sexuality %26amp; humanity of everybody that he doesn't understand. He should take all that money and buy himself a clue. It's high time that we each told all of the shock jocks, "Get some class, JACKA55"!

How can you make nappy, frizzy and tangled barbie doll hair pretty again?

You can wash it and use conditoner or use wig shampoo. Do not use heat or a flat iron on it,it will burn since it's fake hair. Once the hair on a Barbie is frizzy it is pretty much kinda ruined and there is nothing you can do to make it silky again not unless you remove the old hair and put new hair in. There are web sites on refurbishing Barbie dolls.

Tips To Stop Hair Loss %26amp; Keep Healthy Hair Here are some hair care tips that you can use to help stop hair loss and keep your existing hair healthy and looking great. Please don't take these tips lightly. They are very important . The only thing they require is your time and commitment.

- Massage your scalp with your fingertips (not your nails) daily to stimulate and promote circulation to your scalp and reduce excess fallout. Invert your head while you shampoo %26amp; massage your scalp. This helps promote blood circulation to the head.

- Essential oils %26amp; tea . To stimulate scalp circulation, massage the scalp with rosemary essential oil or rinse hair with tea made from sage.

- Comb or brush your hair and scalp gently in the morning and at night. This helps break up hardened oils (sebum) that are clogging your hair follicles. Doing this alone has produced new hair growth. Do not over do combing or brushing.

- keep a distance from dryer's heat. When using blow dryers, always keep the heat a good distance from your scalp and hair. Avoid heating the scalp and hair excessively. Excessive heat will increase hair loss, and excess fallout.

- Avoid getting hair creams, lotions, styling gels and sprays directly on the scalp as they will clog your hair follicles. Use a light hold spray if you must.

- After swimming in a pool, shampoo your hair as soon as possible to remove any chlorine residue. Chlorine is extremely damaging to the hair and scalp.

- Avoid over-exposing your hair and scalp to the wind and sun. Good hair care over a long period really makes a difference!

- Avoid tight hats and caps as they contribute to poor circulation, depriving the hair of proper nutrition and stunting new hair growth. The sweat, dirt and grime around the rim inhibit follicle health and contribute to build-up.

- Always consult your health care provider for extreme causes of excess fallout and thinning. A medical condition or medication could be causing hair loss side-effects.

- Strive for balance and harmony in both your personal and professional lifestyle. High stress factors can cause your body to react by fluctuating hormone levels. This in turn causes excessive oil secretion (sebum) which results in hair loss.

- Pregnancy, nursing, menopause, and even birth control medication can cause constant changing factors on your nutritional needs and hormonal levels which contribute to hair loss and excess fallout.

- Avoid "crash and fad" diets. Proper nutritious meals along with vitamin and mineral supplements are a key factor for healthy hair and skin.

- Good hair care starts with awareness. These hair care tips, if followed consistently, will reduce excess fallout, hair loss, and promote new hair growth.

- Reduce hair loss effects by increasing your intake of vitamin C found in fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly citrus fruit and juices, parsley, broccoli, green peppers and black currants. Take a vitamin B complex everyday or brewers yeast. Increase your intake of protein found in meat, fish, liver, wheat germ, dried cooked beans and peas, tofu, cheese, milk and eggs.

- Take dietary supplements such as Vitamin B6, zinc %26amp; saw palmetto. Supplements are useful when you can't get enough from natural food sources.

- The Chinese believe that hair is nourished by the blood, and therefore influenced by the kidney %26amp; liver. Treatment is aimed at these organs using fleece flower root, wolfberry fruit or mulberry fruit.

- Eliminate stress or else it can be disastrous to your precious hair!

- Get enough sleep. Sleeping well is essential for the health of your hair as well as for the rest of your body.

There are ways you can help stop the grease from appearing but you have to work at it.

Do not wash everyday. The cleaner your hair is the more it can seep into your glands and harder it is to get rid of. When you do wash make sure you are washing with a cleaning shampoo and scrubbing the build up off. Take in mind that you also have to have a ph-balanced mild shampoo and lite scrubbing is recommended. Try to avoid conditioner at the roots, apply in the middle or on the ends.

Try to avoid oil in your daily food intake. And do eat more vegetables. You could visit your doctor but only after you check and consider your diet, drugs, alcohol, and your fatty food intake. Let's face it we see what McDonalds can do to your heart in a month, can you image your hair. You would be dripping everywhere.

Maybe it's time to change your shampoo. Ask your stylist what she or he would recommend. Avoid using shine products at all costs. Keep away from two-in-one shampoos and conditioners and any frizz serums.

To fix at the moment, rub a little Talcum Powder on your dried hair at the roots. Just make sure you wash it out. I wish they would event that magic product, but this will help until they do.

Here are 10 tips for to keep your hair strong, smooth, shiny and beautiful!

1. Keep your diet balanced, and eat protein and calcium rich foods. Stay away from junk foods! This is essential for healthy hair.

2. Foods and supplements to nourish your hair:

* Beans

* Yogurt

* Almonds

* Vitamin B

* Fish

* And of course, the magic potion for beauty - WATER

3. Before washing your hair, comb it well to make sure all knots has been loosened from your hair.

4. Before applying shampoo, use warm water (35 to 38 degrees Celsius) to run through your hair to rinse and wet it thoroughly.

5. When applying shampoo or conditioner, don't use your fingernails to scrape through your hair. Instead, use your palm and fingertips to massage your scalp and hair gently, in circular motions. This will help the circulation and also help to keep your hair shiny and smooth.

6. After rinsing away all the shampoo, run water over your hair for at least another half a minute (3 minutes is best) to ensure there are no remains of shampoo remaining in your hair, since this will cause a great deal of damage to your scalp.

7. When applying hair treatment products, do so just after you have washed your hair, so that your hair can absorb all the good stuff while it is half wet. This will be the best time for it to absorb nourishment.

8. NEVER go to bed with your hair wet! Hair that is half wet is most easily broken, and if you sleep during this time, your hair will be rubbing against each other, damaging your hair in the most terrible way.

9. Too much pressure may lead to hair loss! Relax... try some good relaxation methods such as soaking in a nice scented bath, listening to music, and eating healthy comfort foods such as strawberries and grapes.

10. Perming and coloring seriously damages your hair. Avoid it as much as possible. Also, when using hair setting products such as gel or putty, use as little as possible, because they hurt your scalp and hair. Wash them out thoroughly afterwards with a shampoo specially created for removing styling products.

How can you make nappy, frizzy and tangled barbie doll hair pretty again?

It depends what age Barbie you are talking about. If it's a newer Barbie (by newer, I mean late 1970's on up) just shampoo and then condition with either regular hair conditioner or fabric softener, leave the conditioner on a while (a few hours or overnight) and then comb thru while the conditioner is still in. Then rinse gently and comb thru again. You can also use detangler if all of the frizzies didn't come out.

My daughter is 3years old and her hair is should i say "nappy" .should strighten it with a

i dont wanna put chemicals in it

My daughter is 3years old and her hair is should i say "nappy" .should strighten it with a hot comb

whatever you do, DON'T put chemicals on her hair. are you sure her hair is nappy? a 3yr old should still have natural oils in her hair. but you should know. r u black or white? a black person's version of nappy is different from a white person's version of nappy. sounds silly, but true. have you ever seen what most white people call nappy? :-) a white magazine called Halle Berry's hair "coarse."my advice? get a blow dryer that has comb and brush attachments. after you wash your daughters's hair, use a conditioner and let it sit on her hair for whatever length the bottle says for the first time. you decide the length of time the second time. a wonderful and excellent conditoner to use is called motions. i don't know where you live, but where i live, we have places that we call the chinese stores. (owners are of diffent asian descents not necesarily chinese.) if you can find the one that is sold in a tub like fashion (like a big oversized jar) you would love it. you put your hands in it and its gooey and silky like(it has silicone in it.) put it on her hair, comb through, put a bag on it for 10plus minutes and whalah...you may not have to use a blow dryer. being that your daughter is only 3, she may not like a bag on her hair. if so it's okay. putting a bag on breaks it down quicker. it's almost like getting a hot oil treatment. some stores like sally's beauty supply, target, walmart, or cvs pharmacy carry it, but they don't sell it in the tub version, which is okay, it's the same thing; i just like the tub version better because you can reach your hands in it. it's so soft, it's like giving your hands a manicure. lol/ if you can't find Motions, then try the next best; cream of nature shampoo and conditioner... good luck chica

My daughter is 3years old and her hair is should i say "nappy" .should strighten it with a hot comb

unless you are black then you probably aren't shampooing, conditioning, or drying it properly.

My daughter is 3years old and her hair is should i say "nappy" .should strighten it with a hot comb

If you start straightening her hair now, you are telling her that "nappy" is bad. Cute little brown girls should have their cute frizzy curls.

never straightened my hair with chemicals, but I did try a hot comb. I didn't like it because my hair had to be far too greased up so that it wouldn't burn, and it would burn anyway. The comb broke a lot of my hair and burnt my scalp.

Try cutting her hair short and clipping some cute clips in if it's not manageable, or you could use a detangler when her hair is damp. Always worked for me. I love my natural hair. Encourage her to do so too, and when she is older she can decide otherwise.

My daughter is 3years old and her hair is should i say "nappy" .should strighten it with a hot comb

Ohhh. No, No, No. It will still damage her hair. Just find moisturizers and brush/comb her hair till it is smooth. I would wait until she is about 7-9yrs. old to use a hot comb.

My daughter is 3years old and her hair is should i say "nappy" .should strighten it with a hot comb

Why don't you buy her the Johnsons%26amp;Johnsons' No more Tangles Spray? It is specifically made for children and it will make her hair easy to comb.

You're right. Do not put any adult type straightening products in her hair. Also, I would not recommend a hot comb. She's only 3. You don't want to damage her hair.

Best of luck to you and your daughter.

My daughter is 3years old and her hair is should i say "nappy" .should strighten it with a hot comb

Dont touch her hair!!! She is 3, her hair is like gold at the moment. Wait till she is older. Cant you remember being little and having perfect hair that had no damage? And now being old and having split ends everywhere and its all brittle.

Leave it for as long as possible!!!

My daughter is 3years old and her hair is should i say "nappy" .should strighten it with a hot comb

My niece has very thin hair and I use a straightener on her hair. She is 7 and it does a world of difference.

My daughter is 3years old and her hair is should i say "nappy" .should strighten it with a hot comb

well i think a hot comb could damage hair also... I HAVE NAPPY HAIR TOO .. maybe u should try...profective hair products.... it works really good... U CAN FIND IT IN ANY BEAUTY SUPPLY STORE... and it is not grease... but will give the hair strength...and soften it... or u can just hot comb it... just not alot....it could damage her ends...

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

Some of my brothers make me mad. I love them to death but sometimes they make me mad. I used to have long waist lenght hair and it was straight. I cut it because i wanted to grow a natural fro and my hair was badly damaged from my Relaxers. Before I cut my hair I got so much attention from men. Black men in general would always compliment my hair. But after i cut it they were critizing it and they were saying stuff like " you look like african" or "why don't you grow you hair out, nappy hair is ugly" or "you used to be really sexy with your hair"

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

Well it is good that they make these comments......Cause now you know who to avoid. It's those mental slaves. Don't let their ignorance rub off on you. I am going natural too, and when I cut it off I'm gonna be 200% proud of my hair.

You don't have to take that. Come up with something to say back.

heres what i would say:

"you look like african"------thank you *smile*, so do you...

"why don't you grow you hair out, nappy hair is ugly"-----i am growing my hair out retard! and nappy hair is beautiful, my anscestors rocked it, and imma keep it going.

"you used to be really sexy with your hair"-------boy please! I still am....I'm bringing sexyback to the max.Don't knock me cause you not me

Feel free to use these.

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

you got me babe i personnally like girls with curls.

easier to grab ;)

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

Most black girls I see have very curly, fake hair about a foot above their head

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

Everyone's perception of beauty is a bit different, but certain themes are obvious. In your case maybe you did look better with long and straight hair. I know I look like an idiot when I shave my head. I have Friends that look good when their head is shaved. Most likely, if you are talking of primary black men, it is because long and straight hair is not as common on black women. In a sense it makes you a novelty, which can be erotic. If you like attention, go back to long hair. If you like being who you want to be, wear it any way you like!

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

Everyone has different tastes. It's YOUR hair not theirs, they don't have to maintain it or pay for it to have it maintained.

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

Well, it's not just a black thing.

My mom despised my hair when I got to be about 12, because it had been straight but turned wavy.

She'd always get on my case about how I should comb out my hair and blow-dry it and she always treated me better when it was straight.

She has straight hair and she didn't like me having wavy hair.

But now she has her hair cut in some kinda mullet weird-looking 'do and she looks like a fool.

HA-HA!

Get Curly Girl, by Lorraine Massey. It's a great book with lots of testimonials by curly-haired women, and it has a section just about African-American hair.

It's a racist thing. Even if you're pale like me, you can still get sh!t for not having hair that's "white" enough. Black curly hair just isn't as "good" as straight blond hair to some people.

But that book will give you some support and help you take care of your hair much better. My hair grew about 6 inches longer when I stopped blow-drying it straight. It's much shinier and it has less frizz since I started doing the Curly Girl stuff.

It's from a few years back, so you may have to look for it at a used bookstore or online.

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

because they see women like Beyonce and Ciara; and maybe expect every woman to look like them, but in reality that is not their real hair. They don't look perfect everyday; it's their job to look good. Some men have this strange obssession with straight hair, the perfect body, and, flawless face, when in real life, it is all for show.

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

my gf wears a fro and i like it :-)

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

I definitely agree with Nubian. It does come from a deep self hate. I have had that problem but you have to remember some of these black men have been taught the same negative view about the black culture. It goes all the way back when the Africans first arrived here. Think of all the slave women with rags on their heads. Blacks were taught that we are not (naturally) pretty. The same thing goes about the light skin vs. dark skin thing.

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

They're shallow but whatev i'm keeping mine shoulder length

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

Many black men are a victim of the media. They think what's considered beautiful in the media is what they should consider to be beautiful.

In the media (all forms), a beautiful woman is one with long, straight hair.

Try to stray away from the black men who think you have to look white (the epitome of beauty in this society) and for for a man (any race) who finds your uniqueness beautiful.

Why some Black men so stuck on girls with long and straight hair?

Naps are ugly, we like long straight hair
