I still see this good hair vs. bad hair thing within our community ya'll. A lot of posts I've seen have said things like "I don't have nappy hair, I have curly or long hair." When will we stop perpetuating this crap, it's destroying our collective self-image and internalizing that to look more White is to be prettier. I don't have a problem with pple who wear their hair natural or straight, but it needs to be established that one preference isn't better than the other. How can we stop this detrimental perpetuation?

I agree it is a way of demeaning our self-worth and most of us don't even know it; I think we need to educate our children on the history of this whole "good hair" thing. All hair is good hair because when you get that chemo you are left with NO hair

I'm just glad I have the hair God gave me. My wonderful mom went through horrible chemotherapy and lost all her hair. People should just be thankful for what the good Lord gave them.

Every race has their ups and downs as far as looks go. I've been going gray since I was in 7th grade, white people tend to show their age much earlier than black people do, and whenever we get a zit you can see it quite prominently on our skin.

It's sad..but all races have something about them that their own race makes them insecure about...We all should just be happy with ourselves...And if you're not... So what, do you...If you want to straighten your hair...Do it...If you want to Tan...do it...Tell those haters to shut the....
