First of all, all these people before me are telling you some crazy bull. You can have silky straight hair, I'm black and I only relax my hair once every three months, and I wear silky straight hair all the time. Now, what do you do after you get a perm? What you need to do is do a deep conditioning treatment, any deep conditioner will help, but Pantene makes a great one from a line called "Relaxed and Natural" and it's called Hair Mask, throw that in and put a shower cap on and sit under a hooded dryer for 15 minutes, if you don't have a dryer, just sit with the shower cap on for around 45 minutes to an hour. Wash it out with cool water. What you do next is up to you, I do a roller set, which is when you set your hair on rollers and let it dry that way; after the hair is thoroughly dried, I "blow out" the roots, which is holding a blow dryer close to the roots ans using a round brush to straighten them. Or sometimes I flat iron, but if I use any heat, I use a heat protectant and a straightening serum. Go to a Salon have them to perm it and straighten for you.. I don't think you should perm your own hair, most ppl leave it on to long and it could really damaged your hair even worse and you would have to cut it off..

I am not of African Descent, but left alone without any product, my hair is very poufy and frizzy, I use a conditioning shampoo and conditioner. And then work a straightening balm into my towel dried hair. Then I blow dry my hair straight with a round brush. At this point it is soft but still very frizzy, so I go over small sections of hair at a time with a hair straightener. It's like a curling iron but flat. It's like ironing your hair in pieces. My hair is super smooth after I use it.

It will be straight, silky smoothe, and will stay that way for up to 6 months or longer Even if you get it wet, wash it, or go swimming, it will not curl up. Our hair was not created to be silky straight. If you want silky straight hair, try getting a sew in weave. If that is not an option, after you wash your hair, wrap it. The next morning, take the wrap down. That's about as straight and silky you're going to get it. Sorry
